To lead is to transform.
How do you convey your transformation expertise?
It’s not about restructuring costs or the balance sheet.
It’s about driving success and perhaps adapting the business model.
Effective communication and professional stakeholder management are critical to the success of any transformation—whether it’s chosen or imposed.
Defining a clear transformation objective
Supporting the creation and explanation of the transformation plan
Stakeholder analysis and stakeholder management
Advising on the review of structures and teams
Positioning leadership figures internally
Communicating transformation and restructuring expertise
Designing and supporting internal employee communication
Ongoing communication of KPIs and progress toward targets
Creating negotiation guides for contract adjustments
Supporting preparation for negotiations with suppliers, investors, and intermediaries
According to Roland Berger GmbH’s «Restructuring Study 2024», 65 percent of surveyed executives expect the pressure to transform to keep increasing. The study is not focused solely on traditional restructuring measures like cost cutting and balance sheet optimization—it’s primarily about driving business success and adapting business models.
The study outlines five key factors for a successful transformation:
(1) Strategy – collaboratively developed and clearly defined
(2) Leadership – appointing leaders with the authority and resolve to deliver
(3) Adaptability – ensuring flexibility and responsiveness during implementation
(4) Effective communication – paired with professional stakeholder management
(5) Employee involvement and engagement
The study highlights how closely business and communications consulting are intertwined, and how often communication is underestimated. While 48 percent of respondents considered employee engagement and participation essential for a successful transformation, only 15 percent saw communication as a critical success factor. According to Roland Berger, this is a significant underestimation.
Good communication reduces the feeling of loss of control among those affected, and fosters acceptance and participation.
